Before we ever thought seriously about competing with dogs
and establishing a breeding kennel, our dogs were loving
family pets and enthusiastic hunting partners. When we
decided to become involved in the sport of purebred dogs, we
sought the advice of numerous breeders and trainers. We
also did a great deal of reading and pedigree research. We
were looking for a puppy that could be as versatile as the
breed should be. After a great deal of research
we got our first show/hunt prospect, Foxgloves Mad About
You, “Maddie.” We purchased her from Karen Niffenegger, of
Foxgloves Kennel
in Washington
State as a 12 week old puppy in June 2002. It was very
important to us that our foundation dogs and all of those to
follow, have the potential to be the “complete package.”
By complete package, we mean
dogs that are wonderful companions, whose pedigree,
conformation and athleticism make them exceptional prospects
for future success, in the home, show ring, and in the
field. We believe Maddie to be the
complete package and we thank Karen for sending us this
truly amazing girl and allowing her to be part of our
family...Maddie means the world to us.
Maddie has completed her AKC and UCI International Championships
and will be shown on a limited basis as we will now be
focusing her time/training in various performance venues.
She is now also working as my daughter's Junior dog. Maddie has already acquired
her Junior Hunter title, GSPCA Novice Retrieving Dog title
and GSPCA Versatility Certificate...and we
are continuing her field training with hopes of earning her
Senior Hunter title. She has also recently
started obedience training and has already earned her Rally Novice title. Maddie's intelligence,
eagerness to please and her superb temperament are what make
her a once in a lifetime dog.
