Too young to compete in the Junior Showmanship competitions, Emma is getting an early start in the sport of purebred dogs. She is preparing herself for the day when she can enter the regular show ring as well as the Junior Showmanship competitions. Emma loves dogs, dog shows, and just about everything else about them. She knows all about collars & leashes and how to use them correctly. She even practices down and backs with our dogs and ALL of her stuffed puppies. The animal lover that she is, we just know that her life will be surrounded by animals. Who knows where this girl will end up.....Pet groomer, Veterinarian, Animal technician, Handler, or in another field completely. We seriously doubt that her love for animals will ever change. As you can see from all the pictures, Emma befriends them all and thoroughly enjoys the time she spends with each of them, whether they are our dogs or someone else's.
After a rigorous game of fetch where Emma (age 2) threw bumpers and leaves in the pool for Maddie (17 months) to retrieve, they both thought it was time to relax and recoup a bit. Emma is learning the importance of exercising the dogs, and knowing when it is time to take a break. August 2003 Picture taken by Bonnie Nance All Rights Reserved. This picture of Emma and Maddie "chilling out at the pool" has been published in the March 2004 issue of the AKC Gazette, the Spring 2004 issue of the AKC Family Dog Magazine and the April 2004 issue of the Shorthair Journal.

Having a good time in the wagon with a Gordon Setter puppy owned by Amy Johnson-Edwards. I am sure she is checking the conformation of the head and looking for expression in the young pup. June 2003 Picture taken by Bonnie Nance All Rights Reserved.
Emma & Lucy (Aunt Emily's Golden Retriever) having a tea party. Emma loves playing tea party with all of her four legged friends, and Lucy is so tolerant and patient with her. All the animals seem to enjoy playing tea party too since they get the majority of the food. She has definitely mastered the skill of feeding her companions. Emma brushing Maddie's teeth with Dad's assistance. It is always important to make sure to care for a dog's teeth. Good hygiene is important for animals as well as humans. August 2003 Picture taken by Bonnie Nance All Rights Reserved.
Emma playing with Chip and a basket full of toys. I am not sure who had more fun, Emma or Chip. Again, demonstrating the importance of playing and exercising your companions. September 2003 Picture taken by Bonnie Nance, All Rights Reserved.
